Hurley Regatta Cancelled!

It is with great sadness and disappointment that the organising committee of the regatta have decided to cancel this year’s event.

The objectives of the regatta are to provide family fun for the village and those that love our stretch of the Thames, and to raise substantial amounts of money for local charities.

With very low entry levels this year, and with the vast majority of those entries coming from committee members, their families and friends it was sadly obvious that we were unable to viably meet those objectives. We felt it better to have no event than to run an event that didn’t meet our or your expectations.

The committee are very keen to maintain a 50 year tradition of having a village regatta and would like to provide something supported by the wider village community next year. To do that we require your input on how to create an event that meets your needs – so please write to me at chairman@hurleyregatta.co.uk with your thoughts and suggestions.

Sadly if we get no feedback we will have to assume the village no longer wants the regatta to be part of it’s summer diary.

I would like to thank the committee, volunteers from the village and further afield, and our local sponsors for their continued hard work and commitment – whatever we decide to do next year, we look forward to your support.
